About
Ann Gardner
Ann lives and works in France but her paintings have taken her afar, and in turn given her a perspective she can call her own. Born in Bedford in 1964, Ann attended Bedford High School for girls then at the age of eighteen she gained a place at The Slade School of Fine Art. Ann was fortunate to be taught by Euan Uglow, Lucien Freud, Patrick George, William Coldstream and Cragie Atchinson.
After achieving a 2.1 she won the David Bailey Scholarship to the South west of France, it enabled her to paint outside in the landscape. The Slade welcomed Ann back as a Postgraduate in 1987, after which she was awarded the Boise Travel Award which she took in New York, Texas and Washington teaching at the New York Studio School.
Since 1990 Ann have painted full time, both in London and France. She shows her work regularly in London and increasingly in France.
